Building profile
The building is a former fire station, originally constructed in 1911 and repurposed by Acme in 1997. The work/live studios occupy the former firefighters' flats, with the building's historic industrial character remaining evident throughout.
It is located in an industrial area between the Blackwall Tunnel approach road and the River Lea. The surroundings are shaped by infrastructure, industry and waterways rather than residential uses. The area experiences varying levels of traffic and environmental noise associated with nearby roads and industrial activity.
The available studio is located on the third floor, offering an elevated position within the building and a degree of separation from activity at street level. Natural light levels and environmental conditions may vary throughout the day and across seasons, reflecting the building's historic construction and industrial setting.
Access considerations
The available studio is located on the third floor. A lift serves all floors; however, due to its age and reliability, we recommend that it is used for transporting goods only and not for passenger access. Applicants should therefore be aware that regular access to the studio may require the use of stairs. Limited Blue Badge parking is available on site.
