Naomi Fitzsimmons

Chelsea BA Studio Award
2013/14

Naomi Fitzsimmons is a London-based artist who works with video and installation. She is interested in the performance and formation of the self as impacted by socio-economic factors - particularly in how abstract and intangible systems such as the economy or the internet inform and govern our day-to-day lives. Her practice looks to make these abstract things more concrete by adopting strategies of embodiment, personification, characterisation and consumption.

Naomi’s work has been exhibited at Arebyte Gallery, Picnic Gallery, Thames Side Studio Gallery, Sao Roque, Chalton Gallery and Platform Southwark in London.

Chelsea BA Studio Award

The Chelsea BA Award was a partnership between Acme and Chelsea College (University of the Arts, London), funded by Chelsea Arts Club Trust and Acme, between 2009-17. Aiming to provide a bridge between art school and professional practice, the award included a bursary, rent-free studio space and mentoring programme. Recipients of Acme’s Early Career Awards Programme work from shared studios in order to encourage an environment of peer support and critical dialogue.
