Sugarhouse Work/Live Residency Programme
2011

Jochen Holz is a glass artist based in London. He specialises in the technique of lampworking, in which heat and torches are used to produce flowing forms in hot glass. He makes vibrant, organically shaped, one-off items, bespoke objects, jewellery, and neon pieces, allowing the spontaneous and intuitive elements of the lampworking process to play a central role in his work.

Jochen originally trained in Germany before studying glass at Edinburgh College of Art and The Royal College of Art. After graduating in 2003 he established his studio in East London.

Sugarhouse Work/Live Residency Programme
Based on the model of the Fire Station programme, the Sugarhouse Work/Live Residency Programme was designed in response to the lack of affordable space in London for artists to work and live in. The project was developed in partnership with Solon Co-operative Housing Services and the Boss Group and received funding from the Housing Corporation and Stratford Development Partnership.
