Françoise and Daniel Cartier have exhibited as F&D Cartier since 1998. Through photography the duo question everyday life, intimacy, as well as fashion stereotypes, the position of the artist and of the image in today’s society.

In 1998, F&D Cartier were awarded Geneva’s Michel Jordi Photographic Award In 2002, their series someday,… won the Acquisition Prize from the Swiss Foundation of Photography in Zurich and in 2004 the NEA National Endowment of the Arts Creativity Grant (USA). F&D Cartier’s work is held in numerous private and public collections in Europe, the United States and South America, including the Musée de l’Elysée Lausanne Switzerland, the Swiss Foundation of Photography in Winterthur, the Museet for Fotokunst Odense Denmark, the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, Kunstsammlung F. Hoffmann-La Roche AG in Basel Switzerland, Museum of Modern Art of Rio de Janeiro (MAM) Brasil.

Landis & Gyr Stiftung, Switzerland

The Landis & Gyr foundation awards studio scholarships to Swiss artists and cultural professionals in London, Budapest, Sofia and Zug. Its London-based residency partnership with Acme was established in 1987, and provides six month long work/live opportunities for ten Swiss artists per year. Artists are selected for the programme directly by Landis & Gyr Stiftung and must demonstrate a track record of achievement in their field. Over two hundred visual artists, curators, writers, musicians and composers have benefitted from the programme. Residencies are based in Stepney, E1 and are available to Swiss residents only
