Penny Malone

Australia Council for the Arts Residency
2009

Penny Malone is a visual artist from Hobart, Tasmania. Pattern is at the heart of her work; the design, production and marketing of textiles for interiors, and the development of pattern based projects for exhibition form the core strands of her practice. She uses a labour intensive style of hand printing as a primary point of trajectory for projects that develop through digital technologies, commercial production processes and collaborations with other makers. With inspiration drawn from both the natural and built environment, her work reflects an eclectic mix of past and present influences.

Penny won the Two Dimensional Textile Award in 2005, and in 2010 her work was selected for the finals in Tidal at the Devonport Regional Gallery. Since 2001 Penny has been the recipient of three Arts Tasmania Grants and a Professional Development Grant from the Australia Council for the Arts.
