Dominic Dispirito

Adrian Carruthers Award

Dominic Dispirito creates animations, paintings and sculptures that may on first glance appear simplistic, with a sketch-like rather than polished feel, but on closer inspection are revealed to be wittily observed and subtly sophisticated representations of the British working class. The simplicity of line within Dispirito’s paintings – faces are commonly reduced to bold blocks of only a few bright colours – invites visitors to reflect on the nature of society, at both a personal and universal level.

Dominic's works have been included in solo and group exhibitions at Annka Kultys Gallery, London; Arebyte Gallery, London; The Dot Project, London and Chalton Gallery, London.

Adrian Carruthers Award
The Adrian Carruthers Award is a partnership between Acme and the Slade School of Fine Art, funded by Acme and the Adrian Carruthers Memorial Fund. With the goal of providing a bridge between college and professional practice, the award includes a bursary, rent-free studio space and a mentoring programme tailored specifically to the graduate’s practice. Recipients of Acme’s Graduate Award Programme occupy shared and adjacent studio space in order to foster and encourage a greater degree of peer support and an environment of growth, risk-taking and excellence.
