Daniel Crooks

Australia Council for the Arts Residency
2005

Daniel Crooks is a New Zealand-born artist living and working in Australia. Practicing across a range of media including digital video, photography and installation, his complex manipulations of time reveal a sensitivity seemingly at odds with the ordinariness of the subject matter.

Daniel has held solo exhibitions at the Centre for Contemporary Photography, Melbourne (2002, 2007); Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten, Amsterdam (2005); the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney (2005); Institute for Modern Art, Brisbane (2008); REMO, Osaka (2008); the Christchurch Art Gallery (2008, 2010); Anna Schwartz Gallery, Melbourne (2008, 2012, 2014); Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney (2012); Australian Centre for the Moving Image, Melbourne (2016). His work is held in public and private collections nationally and internationally, including the National Gallery of Australia, Art Gallery of New South Wales, Heide Museum of Modern Art, Museum of Old and New Art and Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetu.
