Fiona Abicare

Australia Council for the Arts Residency
2012

Fiona Abicare works across sculpture, photography and interiors, presenting her practice as a sequence of designed, performed and documented outcomes. She conceives of space as an art object in itself: a complete environment filled with evocative visual props that highlight the importance and value of aesthetic considerations such as colour, form, shape, texture and material. Often collaborative in nature, her practice continues to be influenced by modernist art, design and architecture as well as by film and fashion.

Fiona has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions at Sarah Scout Presents, Melbourne (2012, 2013, 2014); Gertrude Contemporary, Melbourne (2014); Scandinavian Freestyle, foyer commission, Hero Building, Melbourne (2013); the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art, Melbourne (2011); Heide Museum of Modern Art, Melbourne (2008-09). Melbourne Art Fair (2010)
