Pia Linz

Hessische Kulturstiftung Residency
2006/7

Pia Linz is a German artist living and working in Berlin. Pia’s work is characterised by detailed drawings executed in situ. Situating herself in her subject to undertake this laborious process makes Pia part of her chosen setting, providing a familiarity with the location and its inhabitants. The resulting drawings are an expression of this individual understanding enacted through Pia’s subjective use of visual motifs and perspectives, making it clear to the viewer that each person’s worldview is always the result of the individual synopsis of selected fragments of reality.

Pia is a professor of painting at the Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weißensee. She has exhibited nationally and internationally, including at the Milli Reasürans Sanat Galerisi, Istanbul, Turkey (2020); Studio im Hochhaus, Berlin (2020); Berlinische Galerie-Museum of Modern Art, Berlin (2020); Kleine Humboldt Galerie, Berlin (2019); Mitte Museum, Berlin (2019). Her work is included in the collections of the National Gallery of Canada and the Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg.

Hessische Kulturstiftung, Germany
Acme has managed a residency programme on behalf of Hessische Kulturstiftung since 1995, located on Lyal Road, Bow, E3. Residencies are awarded to artists for a period of 12 months, and the size of the accommodation enables the artist to bring their family or dependents for the length of residency. Based in a residential area populated by many artists, the house is well situated for access to other arts spaces and central London. Residencies are open to all artists from Germany. Applications and selection are dealt with directly by Hessische Kulturstiftung.
