Evann Siebens is an artist working with performance, photography and film who occasionally works collaboratively with Keith H Doyle. Keith is a sculptor and designer based in Vancouver, Canada. He is a founding partner of I.F. Design Inc and was formerly Assistant Chair in Operations at Parsons School of Design, New York, where he lectured in furniture design and construction. Evann’s practice negotiates the human body as an archival site and the politics of the female gaze. She danced with the National Ballet of Canada and the Bonn Ballet before studying film production at New York University.

Evann and Keith collaborated on the installation Improv, which toured to Paris & Skopje, Macedonia, 2009; Art Gallery of Calgary, Canada, 2007; Mediated Bodies, Dublin, Ireland, 2007; Screendance, American Dance Festival, Durham, USA, 2006; Cinedans – Interactive Dance Film @ Mediamatic, Amsterdam, The Netherlands, 2006; Goethe Institute & Deutsches Tanz Archive, Krakow, Poland, 2006; Monkey Town Screening, Brooklyn, New York, 2006 and DanceLenz Indian Film Festival, Delhi, India, 2006. Their project IcarusCar travelled to Gallery 295, Vancouver, Canada, 2014; HotShoe Gallery, London, 2011; The New Gallery, Calgary, 2009; Vivarium Gallery, Vancouver, Canada, 2009; The Point Gallery, Salt Spring Island, Canada, 2008. Together they completed residencies at Banff New Media Institute Co-Production, Banff, and Dance Theater Workshop ARM Media Lab Fellowship, New York.

Evann was artist in residence at TRII Art Hub Residency, Athens, Greece, 2019; UNIT/PITT Artist-Run-Centre, An Exact Vertigo Residency, Vancouver, Canada, 2016; National Film Board, Vancouver, Canada, 2008; Ballett Frankfurt Media Arts Residency, Frankfurt, Germany, 2004; National Initiative to Preserve America’s Dance Fellowship, UCLA, Los Angeles, 1998. Evann’s individual exhibitions and screenings include, Witte de With, Rotterdam, 2020; WAAP, Vancouver, 2019; Belkin Gallery, Vancouver 2018; Vancouver Art Gallery Façade Fest, Vancouver, 2017;. Evann’s film Time Reversal Symmetry was screened at Dance on Camera Festival, Film Society of Lincoln Center, New York and won the ‘Outstanding Overall Work’ prize at the Light Moves Festival in Limerick, Ireland. She is represented by Wil Aballe Art Projects in Vancouver, Canada.
