James Geurts

Australia Council for the Arts Residency
2022

James Geurts’ conceptually driven practice focuses on the way that cultural and natural forces intersect to shape both landscape and perception. Through abstraction, fieldwork, site-actions and studio research, his projects explore the divergence of river agency, study the seismic, draw a line from the primordial to the technological, and investigate concepts of time.

James Geurts completed a Masters of Arts RMIT 2009 and Post Graduate research at GEMAK Institute The Hague Netherlands 2011. Represented by GAGPROJECTS Adelaide & Berlin and member of the Contemporary Art Society London. Projects include: National Gallery of Victoria, White Cube London, Center of Contemporary Art Tel Aviv, Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts Taiwan, GEMAK Den Haag, TarraWarra Biennial 2021, Adelaide Biennial and Australian Centre for Contemporary Art.
