Arcana and Open Studios at Billet Road Studios
Thank you to everyone who joined us at Acme’s Billet Road Studios in Walthamstow as part of this year’s Walthamstow Art Trail. Over 300 visitors attended across the weekend, exploring the studios, meeting artists and engaging with the exhibition Arcana.
Opened last year, Billet Road is Acme’s newest studio building: a creative hub supporting a diverse community of artists and practitioners across four floors of self-contained studios. The building is home to a wide range of disciplines, including painting, drawing, lens-based media, sculpture, installation, performance, curating, printmaking, and interdisciplinary research-led practice. Together, the artists at Billet Road reflect the breadth and dynamism of contemporary artistic production taking place within this corner of Walthamstow.
Presented on the ground floor and curated by Rosalba Riscatto, Arcana brought together the practices of 18 artists from Billet Road Studios who, through diverse media, share an interest in the agency of materials and the processes that shape them. The exhibition considered transformation, manipulation, decay, and reconfiguration as generative acts, inviting audiences to reflect on the mysteries embedded within processes of change.
We extend our thanks to all the participating artists, curator Rosalba Riscatto, and everyone who visited Billet Road Studios over the weekend. Documentation of Arcana can be viewed below.
