Christiana Protto is a British-born artist living and working in Frankfurt am Main. Her practice is diverse, taking in drawings, painting, installations and participatory projects. Her artistic work takes place in parallel in different strands that are osmotically connected to one another. The painting traces "Western" and "Eastern" pictorial traditions, patterns and structures, the garden and the still-life interior are recurring themes in the photographic works.

Recent solo exhibitions include: What's Going On Here, Passenger, Frankfurt am Main (2020); Mutual Guest (with Max Weinberg), Eulengasse exhibition space, Frankfurt am Main (2019); Stopover (interactive project) in co-op. with HOME ABROAD, Frankfurt am Main (2017); Saumpfade (with Josef Loretan), Galerie Wolfstädter, Frankfurt am Main (2015); A Taylor's Garden, Kunstraum Bernusstraße, Frankfurt am Main (2012); Black Pools, Goethe Institute, Dublin (2011). Christiana’s works are held in the collections of the Goethe-Institut Dublin; German Wallpaper Museum, Kassel; the State of Hesse; City of Frankfurt am Main; Yannan Art Institution, Hangzhou; Hartmut and Helga Rausch Collection.

Acme has managed a residency programme on behalf of Hessische Kulturstiftung since 1995, located on Lyal Road, Bow, E3. Residencies are awarded to artists for a period of 12 months, and the size of the accommodation enables the artist to bring their family or dependents for the length of residency. Based in a residential area populated by many artists, the house is well situated for access to other arts spaces and central London. Residencies are open to all artists from Germany. Applications and selection are dealt with directly by Hessische Kulturstiftung.
