Elin Wikström

Iaspis
1999

Elin Wikström is a Swedish artist based in Gothenburg and Umeå. Elin’s art takes place in the midst of reality and aims to be part of it. She arranges psycho-social and epistemological experiments where she herself as well as others participate. There is a clear element of anarchistic questioning in her work, a criticism of received opinions and ways of working.

Recent solo exhibitions include: Rebecka väntar på Anna, Anna väntar på Cecilia, Cecilia väntar på Marie..., Moderna Museet, Stockholm (2004); Cool or lame?, Gallery Brändström & Stene, Stockholm and Gallery Hlemmur, Reykjavik (2003); ...the need to be free..., Dundee Contemporary Arts, Dundee (2000); Elin Wilkström, Moderna Museet Project (2000). Between 2001 and 2005 Elin was a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts, Umeå. She is currently the manager at the Gerlesborg School of Fine Art.
