Fire Station Residency
2005-10

Damien Roach is a London-based artist, researcher and lecturer. His projects span art, design & creative direction, publishing, sound/music and audiovisual. Damien’s sculptures, projections and installations challenge perception and ask the viewer to look at the world in a different way: to rethink the everyday visual forms and structures that surround us.

Damien's recent projects include hi-tech immersive performances at London's ICA and Tate Modern, AV installations at Sonic Acts in Amsterdam, design for clients ranging from Wysing Arts Centre to Disney, and contributions to Sandberg Instituut's Shadow Channel MA programme.

Fire Station Residency 2005-10

Acme's residency at the Fire Station is one of the most directly supportive schemes for artists in the United Kingdom, providing combined studio and living space at low rents, as well as a half rent residency for a deaf or disabled artist. This five year fixed-term residency scheme is intended to allow artists more time to concentrate on the development of their work and professional careers, and less time working to survive. 2005 - 10 artists were selected by artists Hayley Newman, Erika Tan and Julie Umerle, art consultant Tessa Jackson, and Acme's founder and former Chief Executive Jonathan Harvey.
