Alison Clouston

Australia Council for the Arts Residency
2008

Alison Clouston is a visual artist living and working in Australia. Alison has a long connection to the Australian bush, where she has lived and managed country for nature conservation for over 25 years. Her work evokes a strongly physical animal and material presence, a curiosity for science and a yearning for environmental and social sustainability.

Alison has for many years worked in collaboration with the musician, composer and sound artist Boyd to create immersive sound and sculpture installations for galleries and alternative sites. They bring their close observations of the natural world into a poetically charged relationship with technology to examine our human place within the rest of nature.

In 2017 she was an Artist-in-Residence with the Bundanon Trust, Nowra. With Boyd, Alison produced an installation for ‘Art of the Threatened Species’ which launched at the Western Plains Cultural Centre in November 2019. In 2020 the pair produced the project ‘Dyerren Dyerren Dragon Tree’ for the Bankstown Biennale, Sydney.
