Jessica Johanneson makes sculptural works with textiles to address ideas of around fragility, vulnerability, space and the body. They are generated through a process that moves between control and lack of control, examining how public conditions and emotional states can become embodied through form and structure.

Jessica’s work has been exhibited in solo exhibitions at Gallery S: t Gertrud, Malmö, (2018); Konstrummet, Skärhamn, (2018); Boiler Room, Art Epidemic, Gothenburg (2018); Gallery KC, Gothenburg (2017); Theater Gallery, Kalmar (2015) and in group exhibitions at Virserums Nonsthall (2020), Konstepidemin, Gothenburg (2019); Domkyrkan, Gothenburg, (2019); Kultur i väst, Gothenburg (2018); Cubitt, London, (2016), Berwick Art Gallery, UK (2016). Jessica has undertaken residencies at Dals-Långed, Sweden (2016); SIM Residency, Reykjavik, Iceland (2017).

Iaspis, Sweden

Iaspis is the Swedish Arts Grants Committee's International Program supporting international exchange for practitioners in the areas of visual art, design, craft and architecture. Iaspis' activities aim to enable professionals to develop artistically and improve their working conditions by establishing international contacts between practitioners and professionals such as curators and critics and others active in the field.
