Dominique Girod is a Swiss composer and bassist. He studied jazz and classical double bass at the Ecole Normal and the American School of Modern Music in Paris, with further study in double bass, composition, electronic music and musical theory at the Zürich Conservatory and Zürich University of the Arts. Dominique’s musical interests lie in jazz and 20th-century classical music, and he has played bass as a leader and as a sideman with Nat Su, Chris Wiesendanger, Christoph Gallio, Dieter Ulrich, Daniel Schenker, Matthias Spillmann, Reto Suhner, Chris Cheek, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Michael Jeffrey Stevens/Miles Griffith, Benny Golson, Jorge Rossy, the Philharmonische Werkstatt Schweiz and the Ensemble für Neue Musik Zürich. In 2009 he co-founded the sextet Grünes Blatt, which he writes and arranges music for.

Dominique has composed and adapted jazz, classical music, and folk songs. His first opera L'homme qui rit (an adaptation of the novel by the same name by Victor Hugo) was premiered by the Freie Oper Zürich in the Rote Fabrik Zürich in 2013.

Landis & Gyr Stiftung, Switzerland

The Landis & Gyr foundation awards studio scholarships to Swiss artists and cultural professionals in London, Budapest, Sofia and Zug. Its London-based residency partnership with Acme was established in 1987, and provides six month long work/live opportunities for ten Swiss artists per year. Artists are selected for the programme directly by Landis & Gyr Stiftung and must demonstrate a track record of achievement in their field. Over two hundred visual artists, curators, writers, musicians and composers have benefitted from the programme. Residencies are based in Stepney, E1 and are available to Swiss residents only
