#12 Postcard From My Studio
50 stories from The Acme Archive
In June 2013, Acme contacted all current studio tenants with a blank A5 postcard and a request to return the postcard amended with something about their studio and what it represented to them. The concept was to highlight the collective contribution of the artists to the visual arts. Artists responded with enthusiasm, with contributions from almost 300 artists, some of whom returned multiple postcards.
The postcards were exhibited in the Acme Project Space in October 2013, to complement the Archive Display that would later be shown at the Whitechapel Gallery. As originally intended, every postcard submitted has been added to the Acme Archive and catalogued as a permanent record of the artists’ contribution.
