Landis & Gyr Stiftung Residency
Silvan Schmid is a trumpet player and recording artist based in Zurich, Switzerland, who performs both collaboratively and as a solo artist. Silvan is a member of the Gamut Kollektiv, whose purpose to explore and create a fruitful breeding ground for ideas, experiments and new processes. In addition to the annual Gamut Festival, they also organise a regular concert series in Zurich. Together with Theda Schoppe, Silvan runs a project which focusses on improvised music called EP Series (since 2017) at Edition Populaire in Zurich.
Silvan has collaborated with artists such as Eddé Khouri/Glanzmann/Schmid, Alex Riva, Amberg/Schmid, Amereller/Schmid/Wheatley, Bertrand Denzler, Lingens/Punkt/Schmid, Hum, Schmid/Svosve/Scott/Prévost, KvG's Bottom Orchestra, Neues aus Kungusien, Billiger Bauer and Hans Kennel's Wood&Brass.
Landis & Gyr Stiftung, Switzerland
The Landis & Gyr foundation awards studio scholarships to Swiss artists and cultural professionals in London, Budapest, Sofia and Zug. Its London-based residency partnership with Acme was established in 1987, and provides six month long work/live opportunities for ten Swiss artists per year. Artists are selected for the programme directly by Landis & Gyr Stiftung and must demonstrate a track record of achievement in their field. Over two hundred visual artists, curators, writers, musicians and composers have benefitted from the programme. Residencies are based in Stepney, E1 and are available to Swiss residents only
