Lucie Stahl

Hessische Kulturstiftung Residency
2015/16

Lucie Stahl’s work moves fluidly among media, working with sculpture, installation, and digital media. It plays with liquidity in its many forms - from finance to bodily fluids, and the malleability of gender, identity, and images, exploring the trappings of modern-day consumer culture through found objects and imagery, addressing branding, consumption, addiction/dependency, and excess.

Lucie has presented solo exhibitions at Queer Thoughts, New York (2019) ;Freedman Fitzpatrick, Paris (2019); Kunsthalle Freiburg, Freiburg, CH (2018); Cabinet, London (2018); Mayer Kainer (2018); Freedman Fitzpatrick, Los Angeles (2017); Dépendance, Brussels (2017); Dallas Museum of Art (2016); Queer Thoughts, Chicago (2014); Galerie Meyer Kainer, Vienna (2014); and Neue Alte Brücke, Frankfurt (2014) and in group shows ar Gallery 369, Muscatine (2019); Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris (2019); MD72/Galerie Neu, Berlin (2017); Kunsthalle Basel (2017); Berlin Biennale (2016); and Lyon Biennial (2015). Lucie was a recipient of the BC21 Belvedere Contemporary Art Award, Vienna (2011) and the Schindler/Mak Center Residency, Los Angeles (2012).
