André Meier is a Swiss musician and composer. He studied trumpet with Rudolf Linder, composition with Detlev Müller Siemens and Erik Oña (2002-2007) and improvisation with Walter Fähndrich at the Hochschule der Musik-Akademie Basel, and computer-aided composition with Philippe Kocher at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHDK).
Besides current music teaching duties at the Winterthur Conservatory, André Meier has his focus on new and improvised music. His compositional works received various scholarships and grants by the Aargauer Kuratorium as well as by the Kiefer Hablitzel Stiftung and Nicati-de-Luze.

His works has been performed by the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, Ensemble Aleph Paris, Ensemble Phoenix Basel. For his sextet descriptions d’un espace, André Meier was invited to the 4th Forum International des Jeunes Compositeurs of the Ensemble Aleph (Paris) to Dresden in 2006. He has played in the Swiss Improvisers Orchestra and in the Lake Side Art Jazz Orchestra, as well as performing contemporary music with the Ensemble Ö!, Ensemble TAG Winterthur, and DUO THAND with Thomas Peter.

Aargauer Kuratorium, Switzerland

Aargauer Kuratorium has worked in partnership with Acme to develop and provide a London-based artists' residency since 1999. Based in Bow, E3, the residency enables a wide spectrum of practitioners connected with the Canton of Aargau, Switzerland, to undertake two six month long work/live residencies per year. Artist application and selection are conducted directly by Aargauer Kuratorium.
