Elisa Caldana

Elisa Caldana is an artist who works primarily with sculpture, performance, writing and film. Her works are united conceptually by the use of abstraction and imagination to draw attention to political and social issues, analysing the paradoxes and liminal spaces that generate from the coexistence of plural standpoints. Architecture, public spaces, monuments, and collective identity are recurrent themes within her work.
Elisa's work has been exhibited at Tokyo Arts Space , Hongo (2019); MAMbo Museum, Bologna (2018); ar/ge Kunst, Bolzano’s Kunstverein (2017); Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Foundation, Turin (2016); Museum for Modern Kunst MMK, Frankfurt am Main (2013). She has been an artist in residence at Tokyo Arts and Space - a division of the Tokyo Museum of Contemporary Art (2018). In 2020-2021 she was artist in residence at the Jan van Eyck Academie, Maastricht. She is grant holder of Nctm e l’Arte (2018), Moving Up (2013), and Portikus e.V (2012-2013).

Acme has managed a residency programme on behalf of Hessische Kulturstiftung since 1995, located on Lyal Road, Bow, E3. Residencies are awarded to artists for a period of 12 months, and the size of the accommodation enables the artist to bring their family or dependents for the length of residency. Based in a residential area populated by many artists, the house is well situated for access to other arts spaces and central London. Residencies are open to all artists from Germany. Applications and selection are dealt with directly by Hessische Kulturstiftung.
