Susan Blanchfield is an Australian artist and teacher. Her practice involves printmaking on paper and cloth, sourcing imagery from her own documentation or historical research. The printmaking process is crucially extended by over-dying with eucalyptus dyes – the colour seeping into the creases and unfolding as an imposed grid, erasing and revealing moments of colonial history. Susan’s works manifest a fascination with the terrain and history of the Australian landscape since European settlement, addressing issues of dislocation and dispossession.
Susan’s work has been shown in the 11th Triennial of Tapestry in Lodz, Poland (2004); City Gallery, Wollongong (2008); and was selected on numerous occasions for the nationally touring Tamworth Fibre Textile Biennale. Her solo exhibition Mind the Gap … between the folds, which resulted from the Australia Council London Studio Residency, was exhibited at the Long Gallery, University of Wollongong (2007).

Since 1992, the Australia Council for the Arts has partnered with Acme to provide London work/live residency opportunities for Australian visual artists. These residencies are located at Acme's Fire Station in Poplar, E14. Application and selection is undertaken directly by the Australia Council for the Arts.
