Stephen Gallagher

Australia Council for the Arts Residency
2008

Stephen Gallagher is a Melbourne-based jeweller whose work is influenced by the Elizabethan era and explores how research of historical material can inform contemporary practice. He was a recipient of an Emerging Artist Mentorship from Craft Victoria (2000) and an Ethel Oates Scholarship from The Embroiderers Guild, Victoria (2001).

Stephen completed a residency at Bundaberg Arts Centre in 2003, facilitated by the Australia Council, and in 2008 was awarded an Australian Council for the Arts London studio residency to study Elizabethan objects in situ. Recent exhibitions include Love Lace, Powerhouse Museum, Sydney (2011-13); Treasure Room Australia, Galerie Handwerk, Munich (2010); and Dreams of Arcadia, Jam Factory, Adelaide (2010).
