Michael Saxer is a Swiss cinematographer. After spending his childhood in Peru, Michael went on to study Film and History at the University of Zürich. During his studies he began working as an assistant in various capacities on filmmaking projects. Michael completed further study, specialising in Cinematography, at the University of the Arts Zürich and the National Film and Television School PWSTiF Lodz.

Michael has worked on a number of high-profile and highly awarded projects. He was the Director of Photography on Michael Steiner’s The Awakening of Motti Wolkenbruch (2019). The film was nominated for five Swiss Film Awards in 2019, winning one, and was the Swiss entry for the best international feature film at the 2020 Oscars. Michael himself has won awards for his cinematography: for the film Joshua at the Innerschweizer Filmtagen 2002; Sweet Tokyo and Moment of Truth at the World Media Festival in Hamburg; An Almost Perfect Plan at the New York Film Festival; and Lost in Val Sinestra, which in 2010 won the EDI special award for cinematography.

Aargauer Kuratorium, Switzerland

Aargauer Kuratorium has worked in partnership with Acme to develop and provide a London-based artists' residency since 1999. Based in Bow, E3, the residency enables a wide spectrum of practitioners connected with the Canton of Aargau, Switzerland, to undertake two six month long work/live residencies per year. Artist application and selection are conducted directly by Aargauer Kuratorium.
