Karim Noureldin is a Swiss artist living and working in Lausanne. Karim’s work is grounded in geometrical abstraction, a practice he initiated in 1994 during a period living in New York. Whilst originating in drawing, his abstract vocabulary has expanded to sculptures, wall and floor paintings, as well as larger site-specific installations.
Karim has exhibited nationally and internationally, with recent solo shows including: Equinox, von Bartha, Basel (2019); Tekati, Ribot arte contemporanea, Milan (2018); Oreo, Bernhard Knaus Fine Arts, Frankfurt (2016); Walk, von Bartha, S-chanf (2016); Dhurrie, Kunstverein adhoc, Bochum (2016). Karim was the recipient of Pro Helvetia – The Swiss Arts Council’s artist in residence programme at Studio Mumbai for 2021. Since 2018, Karim has been a member of the Board of Directors of The Hermann and Margrit Rupf Foundation/Rupf Collection, Bern, a role which he added to in 2019 when he became a member of the Board of the Theodor Bally Estate Foundation, Aarau.
Landis & Gyr Stiftung, Switzerland
The Landis & Gyr foundation awards studio scholarships to Swiss artists and cultural professionals in London, Budapest, Sofia and Zug. Its London-based residency partnership with Acme was established in 1987, and provides six month long work/live opportunities for ten Swiss artists per year. Artists are selected for the programme directly by Landis & Gyr Stiftung and must demonstrate a track record of achievement in their field. Over two hundred visual artists, curators, writers, musicians and composers have benefitted from the programme. Residencies are based in Stepney, E1 and are available to Swiss residents only
