Helen Pynor

Helen Pynor is an artist and researcher whose practice explores ambiguous philosophical zones, such as the life-death boundary, the inter-subjective nature of organ transplantation, and the animate-inanimate relation to prosthetics.
Helen’s work has been exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Art Querétaro Santiago de Querétaro, Mexico, 2019; Beijing Media Art Biennale CAFA Art Museum, Beijing, and Hanshan Art Museum, Suzhou, 2018-2019; The Francis Crick Institute, London, 2018. Her work has received numerous awards including the 2009 Royal Bank of Scotland Emerging Artist Award, 2008 Josephine Ulrick, and 2008 Win Schubert Photography Award. Helen is the 2020 NAT Synapse Art-Science Residency fellow and completed artist residencies at The Francis Crick Institute, London, The University of Western Australia and École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, Paris.

Since 1992, the Australia Council for the Arts has partnered with Acme to provide London work/live residency opportunities for Australian visual artists. These residencies are located at Acme's Fire Station in Poplar, E14. Application and selection is undertaken directly by the Australia Council for the Arts.
