Gerry Wedd makes wry and witty ceramic forms that draw on surf culture, politics and cult music. He is very much aware of the canon of his chosen medium while subverting its traditions to make pithy declarations. Alongside his ceramic practice, Gerry has made a long-term graphic contribution to the iconic brand Mambo, spanning from the late 1980’s up until 2006.
Gerry has exhibited extensively in Australia and internationally, including in the Havana Biennial, Jam Factory, Ian Potter Museum of Art and The Victoria and Albert Museum. He has received numerous awards including the Hobart Art Prize in 2010 and the 1998 Sidney Myer Fund International Ceramics Award and is represented in public collections around the country including the Art Gallery of South Australia, Powerhouse Museum – Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences, National Gallery of Australia, National Gallery of Victoria, Shepparton Art Museum and Queensland University of Technology.

Since 1992, the Australia Council for the Arts has partnered with Acme to provide London work/live residency opportunities for Australian visual artists. These residencies are located at Acme's Fire Station in Poplar, E14. Application and selection is undertaken directly by the Australia Council for the Arts.
