Francisco Sierra is a Chilean contemporary artist and musician based in Switzerland. His work is primarily concerned with painting and drawing. Francisco is a self-taught painter and trained as a violinist at Utrecht School of the Arts. He is also a founding member of the music performance collective, Jetpack Bellerive and an art associate of ETH Zurich’s art inventory.
Fancisco’s recent exhibitions include, Crazy, Cruel and Full of Love, Kunstmuseum Bern, 2020; Shanghaien, AUTO St. Gallen, 2020; MASKE in Contemporary Art, Kunsthaus Aarau, 2019; Connections are interrelated, Solothurn Art Museum, 2018; Narrated World - Stories in Art, Wilhelm Hack Museum, Ludwigshafen am Rhein, 2017; Part Dieu, Galeria Bacelos Madrid, 2014; Avalon, Kunstmuseum St. Gallen, 2013; Galerie Gregor Staiger in Zürich, 2011; ‘es' Kunsthaus Langenthal, 2009; and The Universe, Wilhelm-Hack-Museum Ludwigshafen am Rhein, 2009. He is the recipient of the Kiefer Hablitzel Prize, the Swiss Art Award, Manor Kunstpreis St. Gallen, and in 2011 he was a fellow at the Sommerakademie Zentrum Paul Klee curated by Pipilotti Rist.
Landis & Gyr Stiftung, Switzerland
The Landis & Gyr foundation awards studio scholarships to Swiss artists and cultural professionals in London, Budapest, Sofia and Zug. Its London-based residency partnership with Acme was established in 1987, and provides six month long work/live opportunities for ten Swiss artists per year. Artists are selected for the programme directly by Landis & Gyr Stiftung and must demonstrate a track record of achievement in their field. Over two hundred visual artists, curators, writers, musicians and composers have benefitted from the programme. Residencies are based in Stepney, E1 and are available to Swiss residents only
