Dagmara Genda

Dagmara Genda is an artist and freelance writer currently working in Berlin. Born in Poland, she immigrated to Canada as a child, where she lived in numerous cities including Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Thunder Bay, London, Toronto and Guelph. A corresponding restlessness feeds her drawing practice which tends to focus on the fragility and changeability of perception.
Notable projects include a public art commission for the Toronto Subway System, a curatorial project in a historic Berlin building slated for demolition, a site-specific wallpaper featuring a communist skyscraper for a brownstone in Chelsea, NYC, and an encyclopedic compilation of absence shown at ace art inc. (Winnipeg) in 2018. Dagmara is the recipient of numerous prizes including the Pollock-Krasner Grant, a Canada Council International London Residency and a Fellowship at the Künstlerhaus Schloss Balmoral in Germany. She has exhibited at the Arp Museum (Remagen, Germany) Walter Phillips Gallery (Banff, Canada), and the Esker Foundation (Calgary, Canada), amongst others.
Canada Council Residency
The Canada Council for the Arts partnered with Acme between 20012 – 2016 to provide residencies that were located at Bow Quarter in E3. Application and selection was undertaken directly by the Canada Council for the Arts.
