Cora Seghal Cuthbert

City & Guilds of London School of Art Award
2018/19

Through her practice, Cora Seghal Cuthbert searches for, and presents, the extraordinary in the ordinary. Cora’s work observes the connections between the personal, the cultural and a universal humanity and spirituality, and often results in installations made up of found and made objects, photography, drawing, text and documentation of social interventions such as graffiti or fly posting.

Cora’s installations aim to democratise ‘high’ and ‘low’ personal and cultural references in order to present their equal beauty, creating humorous, tender, celebratory and open-ended works that prompt viewers to introduce their own associations, experiences and memories.

Cora was selected for the 2018/19 City & Guilds of London School of Art Award by artist Andrew Grassie, Tamiko O’Brien (Principal, City & Guilds) and Charlie Coffey (Residencies & Awards Programme Manager, Acme) from a shortlist of six MA graduate artists from City & Guilds of London School of Art.

Cora presented It's Nothing New at Auto Italia with fellow early career programme artist Mitch Vowles, an an informal discussion on youth subcultures as part of Art/Work Association peer exchange forum.
