Christian Thompson is a multidisciplinary artist working with photography, video, sculpture, performance and sound.
Christian's Aboriginal identity plays an important role in his work, in which he explores sexuality, gender, race and memory. Through live performances and conceptual portraits, Christian inhabits a range of personas achieved through handcrafted costumes, carefully orchestrated poses and backdrops.
Christian's work has been included in Australia at the Royal Academy for the Arts, London, We Bury Our Own, The Pitt Rivers Museum, Oxford, Modern Art Oxford, Oxford, Valencian Institute of Modern Art, Valencia, Spain, The Other and Me, The Sharjah Museum, United Arab Emirates, Hijacked III, QUOD Gallery, Derby, United Kingdom, and Shadow life Bangkok Art and Cultural Centre, Bangkok, Thailand.

Since 1992, the Australia Council for the Arts has partnered with Acme to provide London work/live residency opportunities for Australian visual artists. These residencies are located at Acme's Fire Station in Poplar, E14. Application and selection is undertaken directly by the Australia Council for the Arts.
