Caroline Streck
Chelsea MA Award
2016/17
Caroline Streck is a painter working with minimal forms found in the built environment and the everyday. She considers how architecture and structure relate to basic shapes through repetition and rhythmic forms – and then isolates and contextualizes them as paintings and drawings. The compositions become de- and re-stabilized during the process of construction.
Caroline was selected by artist Haroon Mirza, Patrick Lynch (award donor), and Julia Lancaster (Acme).
Upon completing her award in September 2017, Caroline presented SEEP at PEER alongside fellow early career programme artists Kristaps Ancāns, Josh Berry and Ruth Waters.
Chelsea MA Studio Award
The Chelsea MA Studio Award is a partnership between Acme and Chelsea, University of the Arts, London, funded by Patrick Lynch and Acme, between 2016-18. With the goal of providing a bridge between college and professional practice, the award included a bursary, rent-free studio space and a mentoring programme tailored specifically to the graduate’s practice. Recipients of Acme’s early career programme occupy shared studio space in order to foster and encourage a greater degree of peer support and an environment of growth, risk-taking and excellence.
