Stefania Beretta is a Swiss photographer living and working in Verscio. Stefania began to exhibit her photographs in 1985, showing images from her travels in Europe, Asia and America, a selection of which was published in the book Ticino and Its Photographers (1987). Other photobooks followed, including Cities of Europe (1998), published by CGA&P Lugano and containing more photographs from Stefania’s travels, and then three books published by Trans Photographic Press Paris – Rooms (2000), Too Much (2002), and In Memoriam (2006).

In 1994, Stefania was the recipient of a Visarte scholarship providing her with six months at the Cité Internationale des Arts of Paris. The following year she won first prize in the Ticino Society of Fine Art’s photographic prize. In 1988 Stefania was the recipient of a national scholarship from the Gleyre Foundation, and in 2009 The Bogliasco Foundation and the Liguria Study Center for the Arts and Humanities Genoa, granted her a one-month fellowship. Recent high profile exhibitions include the group show Eyes on Paris, Deichtorhallen, Hamburg (2011), Kunstmuseum Pablo Picasso, Münster (2015), and the solo show Una segnaletica dell’Essere, Municipal Museum of Art, Ascona (2016).

Stefania’s photographs are part of many public and private collections, including the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris, and the Swiss Photography Foundation.

Landis & Gyr Stiftung, Switzerland

The Landis & Gyr foundation awards studio scholarships to Swiss artists and cultural professionals in London, Budapest, Sofia and Zug. Its London-based residency partnership with Acme was established in 1987, and provides six month long work/live opportunities for ten Swiss artists per year. Artists are selected for the programme directly by Landis & Gyr Stiftung and must demonstrate a track record of achievement in their field. Over two hundred visual artists, curators, writers, musicians and composers have benefitted from the programme. Residencies are based in Stepney, E1 and are available to Swiss residents only
