Georg Gatsas is an artist, photographer and freelance journalist based in Zurich, Switzerland. He is interested in exploring subjects such as life in megacities, gentrification, migration politics, music and the digital revolution
Georg uses an interdisciplinary approach to focus on how sound, recollection, and public spaces interact. Recent solo and group exhibitions include Kunsthaus Baselland (2020), Fotomuseum Winterthur (2019), Kunstmuseum St.Gallen (2017), Oldenburger Kunstverein (2017), Le Confort Moderne Poitiers (2017), FRAC Nord-Pas de Calais (2015), Museum Bärengasse Zurich (2013), and Kunstraum Riehen (2013). His editorial work has featured in a variety of magazines such as Wire, Zweikommasieben, Interview, i-D, Dazed, Beat and Edge.
Landis & Gyr Stiftung, Switzerland
The Landis & Gyr foundation awards studio scholarships to Swiss artists and cultural professionals in London, Budapest, Sofia and Zug. Its London-based residency partnership with Acme was established in 1987, and provides six month long work/live opportunities for ten Swiss artists per year. Artists are selected for the programme directly by Landis & Gyr Stiftung and must demonstrate a track record of achievement in their field. Over two hundred visual artists, curators, writers, musicians and composers have benefitted from the programme. Residencies are based in Stepney, E1 and are available to Swiss residents only
