Eleanor Moreton receives the 2026 Jonathan Harvey Tenant Award

We’re delighted to announce Eleanor Moreton as the 2026 recipient of our Jonathan Harvey Tenant Award.

Acme tenant Eleanor Moreton grew up in Berkshire and studied painting at Exeter College of Art and Chelsea College of Art. She studied Art History and Theory at the University of Central England.

She has had solo shows with Ceri Hand Gallery; Jack Hanley in New York; Maya Froderman (formerly Tayloe Piggott) Gallery, USA; Arusha Gallery, Edinburgh and London; Phoenix Exeter, and has been in many group shows at home and internationally. She was artist in residence at Durham Cathedral in 2007/2008. Her work can be found in The Anomie Review of Contemporary Painting (2018) and Picturing People, by Charlotte Mullins (2015)

“I’m really delighted to receive this award,” said Moreton. “I hope my proposal will help me gain a broader perspective on the work I’ve made over the years. And a big thank you to Jonathan Harvey and Acme for an award specifically aimed at older artists!”

Jon Opie, Head of Artist Support at Acme, added: “The panel were particularly drawn to Eleanor’s paintings for their richly interwoven themes of storytelling, folklore, and psychoanalysis. We admired her long-standing commitment to her studio practice and her determination to share her work with peers and curators. Congratulations to Eleanor – I look forward to supporting her over the coming year.”

The Jonathan Harvey Tenant Award recognises an Acme tenant with a sustained practice of at least 30 years, offering an artist fee of £5,000, up to £7,000 in project support, and marketing and communications assistance for award outcomes. The recipient also gains access to Acme’s awards development programme, including networking, events, and practical skills training.
