Amar Shahid
Khazanah Arts Residency
2025
Amar Shahid is a Southeast Asian based artist exploring the idioms of early photography in shaping the visual heritage of the region, with its relation to post-colonial dialogues in art. With a strong multi-cultural background that took advantage of the global crossings of the Sunda Plate, he is well-versed in multiple linguistic modes, leading to a colourful interpretation of globalism and regional history. After 4 solos and residencies, Amar is now continuing his conversation with the ACME-Khazanah London Residency, exploring the impact of multiculturalism in urban London and beyond.
Khazanah Arts Residency
Malaysia’s sovereign wealth fund, Khazanah Nasional Berhad, in collaboration with Acme, developed the Khazanah Arts Residency Programme, a 12-week residency programme designed for emerging Malaysian artists based at Acme studios. An initiative under the Khazanah Residency Programme, the arts residency is an annual programme designed to develop and prepare young artists for the next growth phase in their professional careers. Typically, artists for this residency programme are nominated by galleries and residencies in Malaysia and subsequently selected by Khazanah Nasional Berhad and Acme.
