Richard Skinner

Richard Skinner is an artist and designer living and working in Tasmania. Richard’s art and design practices are influenced by his use of discarded materials and research into more sustainable approaches to designing and making.
From 1986-2000 he was a member of the Designer-Makers Tasmania Co-operative, and since 2004 has lectured at the Tasmanian School of Art and TAFE Tasmania on the topic of Sustainable Design. Recent exhibitions include: Onalog, Plimsoll Gallery, University of Tasmania (2009); Free Range, Waterside Pavillion, Hobart (2007); and Making Relations, CAST Gallery, Hobart and Devonport Regional Gallery (2006).

Since 1992, the Australia Council for the Arts has partnered with Acme to provide London work/live residency opportunities for Australian visual artists. These residencies are located at Acme's Fire Station in Poplar, E14. Application and selection is undertaken directly by the Australia Council for the Arts.
