Rhonda Weppler

Rhonda Weppler is a New York-based artist from Winnipeg, Canada, who has worked in collaboration with Trevor Mahovsky from Calgary, since 2004. Rhonda and Trevor make sculptural still life, attenuated by an emphasis on process and materiality. Whether generated by laborious working methods, held together by propping or balancing or constructed from ephemeral material, their works focus attention upon coming into and out of existence.
Rhonda and Trevor have exhibited at the National Gallery of Canada; Vancouver Art Gallery; LABoral, Gijon; Dos de Mayo, Madrid; the Power Plant, Toronto; Musée d’art Contemporain, Montreal; Tokyo Wonder Site, Tokyo and Loop-Raum, Berlin. Rhonda’s work has been exhibited at the Palazzo delle Papesse, Sienna and COCA, Seattle. Trevor’s work has been shown at the Queens Museum of Art, New York and he has written for catalogues and journals such as Artforum and Canadian Art. Their work is represented in public collections, including the Musée d’art Contemporain de Montreal and the National Gallery of Canada.
Canada Council Residency
The Canada Council for the Arts partnered with Acme between 20012 – 2016 to provide residencies that were located at Bow Quarter in E3. Application and selection was undertaken directly by the Canada Council for the Arts.
