Anna Ostoya
Hessische Kulturstiftung Residency
2008/9
Anna Ostoya is a Polish-born artist based in New York, working in various media, including paintings, collages, objects, sculptures, texts and sound. Her works are elaborate and intertextual, concerned with creating alternative approaches to knowledge. Violence, the history of the avant-garde, and contemporary information overload are recurrent themes, which are analysed by means of queries and the building of complex relationships between references from literature, history, media and everyday life.
Anna has recently exhibited at Bortolami Gallery in New York (2020), Tegenboschvanvreden Amsterdam (2019), Kunsthaus Baselland (2019), and Tate St Ives (2018).
Hessische Kulturstiftung, Germany
Acme has managed a residency programme on behalf of Hessische Kulturstiftung since 1995, located on Lyal Road, Bow, E3. Residencies are awarded to artists for a period of 12 months, and the size of the accommodation enables the artist to bring their family or dependents for the length of residency. Based in a residential area populated by many artists, the house is well situated for access to other arts spaces and central London. Residencies are open to all artists from Germany. Applications and selection are dealt with directly by Hessische Kulturstiftung.
