Acme, supporting artists since 1972

Acme Project Space

The Acme Project Space ran from June 2009 to December 2015. It provided an opportunity for those artists who are part of our Residency & Awards Programme and our International Residencies Programme with a public space within which to develop projects, show new work and engage in a critical dialogue with a wider audience.

Christian Quesnel

‘Hearts of Clay (Coeurs d'Argile)’ 4.12.2009 - 13.12.2009

Acme International Residencies Programme: Quebec (CALQ)

'Hearts of Clay (Coeurs d’Argile)' explores the creation of a graphic
novel about a house. This house, (also the home of the artist) is host to
the broken dreams of two lovers from western Quebec in the 1930s.

Visitors will be able to follow two stories: the romantic drama and the
making of the graphic novel. Using antiques, photographs, letters,
plans and archives from the 1930s, Christian Quesnel pieces together an engaging narrative about both the story and the process of its artistic creation.

Christian Quesnel is a Canadian artist from Quebec. This exhibition
marks the end of his time as the inaugural recipient of the six month
Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ) London Artist
